About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and commercially astute General Counsel to join a dynamic and growing lower mid-market private equity firm based in London. This is a pivotal role for a seasoned legal professional with a strong corporate law foundation and significant in-house experience, ideally within the private equity or investment management space.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all legal aspects of the firm’s investment activities, including deal structuring, execution, and portfolio management.
• Advise on fund formation, regulatory compliance, and investor relations.
• Oversee external counsel relationships and ensure cost-effective legal support.
• Provide strategic legal guidance to senior leadership across corporate governance, employment, and commercial matters.
• Support the firm’s growth initiatives, including international expansion and new fund launches.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified solicitor with circa 12 years PQE, trained at a Magic Circle or equivalent top-tier firm.
• Strong corporate/M&A background with demonstrable experience in private equity transactions.
• Proven track record of working in-house, ideally within a private equity firm or investment platform.
• Commercially minded, pragmatic, and confident in advising senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a collaborative approach.
