As Legal Director, you’ll be the most senior legal figure in the business, responsible for building and leading the legal function from the ground up. Reporting directly to the CFO and working closely with the CEO and board, you’ll play a critical role in enabling growth, managing risk, and supporting strategic decision-making across the company. Key Responsibilities

• Commercial & Tech Contracts: Draft, negotiate and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including SaaS contracts, licensing, data-sharing, and strategic partnerships.
• Corporate & VC Matters: Support on equity rounds, shareholder matters, corporate governance, and board processes.
• Data Privacy & AI Regulation: Advise on GDPR, AI-specific regulatory frameworks, and ethical use of data and algorithms.
• IP Strategy: Protect and commercialise the company’s proprietary technology and data assets.
• Risk & Compliance: Build scalable legal processes, manage risk across jurisdictions, and ensure compliance with evolving tech regulations.
• External Counsel Management: Engage and oversee external legal advisors across specialist areas and geographies.
• Leadership & Strategy: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and investors, contributing to strategic planning and business operations.

Candidate Profile

• UK-qualified solicitor with 10–15 years PQE, ideally starting in a top-tier corporate or commercial law firm.
• Strong in-house experience in high-growth tech, ideally in AI, SaaS, or deep tech, with exposure to VC-backed environments.
• Comfortable operating autonomously and building legal infrastructure from scratch.
• Deep understanding of data privacy, IP, and commercial contracting in a tech context.
• Pragmatic, commercially minded, and confident advising senior stakeholders and investors.
